Player Q&A

How long have you been playing the deck?
I built the deck about 4-5 weeks prior to the EU WGP finals and was tweaking and testing different things such as the Twin Drive Shiroa over the 1/1 Ao and whatnot but ultimately decided to go with this build as it performed the most consistently.

What’s your favorite card in the deck and why?
I’d say that the 3/2 Ai is my favorite card due to how versatile she is. Not being able to play backups or events against her while she has the ability to give bonus soul to any of your characters and also offers a great power boost if played via standby at level 2.

How does the deck work?
At level 0 the deck is kept simple and small to reduce the whiff-potential for the 0/0 Umi. It also has the possibility to bring out the 1/1 Ao at level 0 due to the 0/0 Ai.

At level 1 you preferably want to bring out as many CX Combo 1/0 into 2/1 Shiroas as possible. the combo itself is a net +/- 0 in hand excluding the climax as well as an additional (blind) stock which lets you brainstorm a lot. Due to her high “base” power, Shiroa can wall off almost every single deck which especially hurts ability types such as Minami, Shimakaze and the likes that need to reverse to plus.
Even the 1/1 Ao does a great job at that simply being a 7.5k body with hand-encore.

At level 2 you have your early plays that heal into memory to further setup your restand combo, or depending on the game flow, you can simply keep sitting on your Shiroas and get your level 3 game ready via draws/brainstorms.
Due to anti-level reversers and backups, you can also get rid of your opponent’s early plays if you don’t happen to have your own or couldn’t standby out the 3/2 Ai yet.

At level 3 the main plan is to double restand if possible. The 3/2 Ao from the Trial Deck is an option if the situation requires it.

What kind of decks are a bad/good match-up for this deck?
I haven’t done enough play testing against most sets yet to pinpoint the good and bad matchups. However, generally the matchups against on-reverse level 1 combos are good for the deck as you can completely deny them in most cases.
Decks that have a lot of compression can be a problem due to no stock swap and no consistent burns in this deck.

Is there anything you still plan to change in the build?
I’d like to get a 2nd of the Trial Deck Ao into the deck but due to how tight the deck space is, I’m not 100% sure if that will happen or not.

Mad props to Sven Leise for winning not only the Finals with this deck, but also the LCQ the day before! And huge thanks for collaborating with me on this post 😛

TL;DR of my last two posts: Standby is good.
